A very high quality 18th Century Georgian Mahogany Secretaire Chest of Drawers.
The Secretaire has the fitted desk drawer over three long drawers and original solid brass ring handles, with figured mahogany throughout. The Secretaire has two hexagonal panels which have been cross banded, the interior has a blue baize covered writing surface, eight ivory strung drawers, eight pigeon holes and in the centre a cupboard, which has two secret ‘pull out’ columns either side and an extra secret compartment inside the cupboard. With beautiful carved spiral columns either side of the drawers and ivory keyhole escutcheons. The top decoration above the desk drawer is also another secret compartment drawer which can be opened up on the inside. The chest stands on four ogee shaped feet and has a moulded edge to the top.
